Music for Memory, was a project produced by N.E.M.O. geie and co-funded by the programme “Europe for Citizens – Active European Memory Action 4”. From 2013 to 2014 it sought to diffuse the most difficult story of the twentieth century among the young generation. The poetic tale of “Brundibar”, written by Hans Krasa before 1943, is a short opera for children of great music, choral and poetic intensity. Approximately 1000 children between the ages of 12 and 18 from Genoa, Nice in France, Gorizia, Nova Gorica in Slovenia and Prague staged the opera, which in turn was seen by over 10,000 of their European peers.
In addition, there were conventions, musical and experiential workshops for young people.
The project received numerous honours and awards, including the “Medal of the President of Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano” twice.
