Music, dance, theatre, images of that time and innovative special effects to create a great musical story able to excite any type of audience. An unprecedented show that through the history of the Cumparsita also narrated the history of Tango Oriental, of the great protagonists of Uruguay between the end of the nineteenth and the early twentieth century, which is intertwined with the extraordinary biographies of the most beloved Masters of tango, from Canaro to Gardel, to Rosita Melo, Horacio Ferrer and many more.
Exciting arrangements of the most beautiful music in tango history played live with individual and group choreographies, of the most beloved tango couples in the world for a show of integrated arts that in its Premiere thrilled the great Opera Theatre Carlo Felice in Genoa, one of the most important Italian theatres, a sold-out show which involved more than 2000 people.
A history of departures and emigrations, but also of great cultural and artistic encounters that, thanks to incredible inspirations, have been danced by entire generations.
For this reason, and in memory of the cultural and entrepreneurial bonds born at the time of emigration between Liguria and Uruguay, on April 19th 2017, the 100th Anniversary of the Cumparsita was celebrated all over the world, the most played and danced tango of all, born thanks to the collaboration of the Uruguayan composer Matos Rodriguez and at that time the best known Roberto Firpo, of Italian origin, in particular Genoese.
An extraordinary cast with the participation of Orquesta Ensemble Hyperion with the singer Ruben Peloni, the actors Roberto Alinghieri and Andrea Nicolini and the dancers Sebastian Achaval and Roxana Suarez, Neri Piliu and Yanina Quinones, Facundo Piñero and Vanesa Villalba, Stefano Giudice and Marcela Guevara.
On that date Genova was chosen for the Centennial’s most important celebration in Italy, with the Premiere of this show at the Opera Theatre Carlo Felice, which opened its doors to all lovers of tango, music, dance and history of Genoa, thanks to the Embassy of Uruguay in Italy, the Liguria Region and Rotary International and with the patronage of the Municipality of Genoa, the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa and the Merchant Navy Academy.
